HOLY SPIRIT
Revelation 4:5(KJV): “And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the Seven Spirits of God”.
Also mentioned in Revelation 1:4, Revelation 5:6
The spirit of God is portrayed in the scriptures as the seven spirit of God.
This does not mean the spirit is seven but seven here symbolizes completion, perfection, abundance and fullness of the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 11:2(KJV): “And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord”.
Here the seven spirits of God is accurately mentioned but we will focus our study on the spirit of Knowledge.
As stated in Isaiah 11:2, the seven spirit of God refers to the seven-fold manifestation of the Holy Spirit in its fullness that is without measure (John 3:34) and does not imply that the Holy Spirit is seven.
The spirit of God is God that dwells in us (Romans 8:9, John 14:17), bears witness with our spirit that we are sons of God (Romans 8:16), reveals the mind of God towards us (I Corinthian 2:10-13) and reveals to us the hope of our calling and our inheritance in Christ (Ephesians 1:4).
THE SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE
“knowledge is the candle of the soul” – G. D. Damabel
Knowledge by definition is the acquisition of information. Knowledge brings us information of a particular subject matter. For one to accomplish anything in life you need knowledge in that field to excel.
Knowledge as described in the dictionary as “facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.” is different from the knowledge the spirit of God gives which we shall study in detail.
For this study, we are going to consider two kinds of knowledge.
• Sense Knowledge (gnosis).
• Revelation Knowledge (ginosko, epignosis).
Sense knowledge is acquired through education or experience. It is a mental accent; it is scientific knowledge whose source is from the archives of our world.
Revelation Knowledge is a divine knowledge that is inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Revelation knowledge does not discredit science but goes beyond. Science can tell you what is (the presence of a thing) but revelation knowledge will tell you the purpose.
Any one that does not operate with the spirit of knowledge will be disadvantaged in life, Hosea 4:6 says my people are destroyed (subdued, oppressed, impoverished) because they lack ginosko (Revelation knowledge of what is and is to come, who I am and what they have).
WHAT DOES THE SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE DO
GIVES US HEAVENLY ACCESS (Mathew 16:16-19)
Jesus asked his disciples who do men say I am? they replied, John the Baptist, Elijah or one of the prophets etc this was sense knowledge which they acquired by what they think and what others have said and written of him but not by revelation.
Peter switched to the realm of the supernatural and said thou art Christ the son of God, Jesus responded, “Peter flesh and blood did not reveal this to you but my father in heaven”, Jesus was saying it does not matter how long you’ve lived and the qualification you have gotten, its impossible you arrive at this conclusion, this is revelation knowledge (ginosko). Then Jesus continued “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven”, with keys you can access the kingdom and all its treasures.
KNOWLEDGE OF OUR INHERITANCE IN CHRIST (1 Corinthians 2:12)
The spirit of knowledge causes us to be aware of our inheritance in Christ through the work of salvation and most importantly brings us into full discernment and acknowledgement of our inheritance in God (Philemon 1:6). He makes us rich both in heavenly and earthly possessions.
TO KNOW OUR MINISTRY AND THE HOPE OF HIS CALLING (Ephesians 1:18)
As citizens of the kingdom (Philippians 3:20) we have a divine responsibility and this responsibility is revealed to us by the spirit of knowledge. This revelation knowledge brings us to the acknowledgement of our calling the future and hope we have in God. This makes us firm in faith and not carried away by any wind of doctrine Ephesians 4:13-15.
BRINGS US THE REVELATION OF THE LOVE OF CHRIST (Ephesians 3:17-19)
Ephesians 3:17-19:“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know(ginosko: Meaning having revelation knowledge of ) the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge(Gnosis: scientific knowledge), that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God”
The spirit of knowledge reveals to us the love of Christ which causes us to follow and serve him with love in our heart, keeping our hope alive and sure.
Romans 5:5 “and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us”. For he said in a certain place that in the days of his power, his people shall be willing.
REVEALS THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD (I Corinthians 2:9-10)
Apostle Paul prayed in Philippians 3:10 “that I may know him”
he was asking for revelation knowledge and indeed such knowledge is only given by the spirit of God as written in I Corinthians 2:10 “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God”.
God loves us and it is his will that we function and operate in the realm of his divine knowledge and this deep knowledge is revealed to us by his Spirit of Knowledge.
To live a successful and purposeful life you most live with and work by the spirit of knowledge, it will create in you a strong desire for godliness, increase your knowledge of the truth, reveals to you the glory of God (Habakkuk 2:14).
The spirit of knowledge causes your faith to be effective and brings you to a higher realm with the upper hand, it will cause you to have the mind of Christ.
Indeed, he is the spirit of truth; he is the spirit of God that teaches and he is sent to perfect all that concerns you by bringing you into the knowledge of the truth and God’s awesome fullness, power, glory, wisdom and majesty.
